The little happiness - Des petits bonheurs

Landscape painting by Francis Riehl
Exhibitions
Genets et Lavandes
Francis Riehl, born near Strasbourg in 1950, is interested in painting since his youth. The sight of the colours of the plants that my father grew as a gardener on one hectare of earth weighed more than all the painting schools in the world, the painter says. Francis Riehl was particularly taken with the flowers and landscapes of Provence. Be it in summer or winter, drawn by the green of the olives, the blue of the lavender or the red of the poppy. He often places small aspects of Provence, sections of landscapes or places, which he simplifies or changes. All his motifs, bright colours and captivating atmosphere are evidence of his sensitivity.
"I paint with both my heart and my stomach. If my painting brings a little happiness to the one who looks at it, I am a happy painter".
