The works presented in the exhibition make it possible for us to leave gravity behind us, in every sense of the word.
"Échappée Belle" invite us to navigate through and sometimes sidestep this digital society, to provide a change of perspective and bring a fresh sense of wonder to our everyday lives and our future.
We live in a hyperconnected world where technology is largely controlled by multinational tech companies (Google, Apple, et al.) and their market-driven mentality. Electronics manufacturing, use, and waste are causing mounting problems for the environment. It’s vital that we continue our search for new solutions to break free from this vicious cycle, while also enjoying what truly brings us pleasure in life and our relationship with nature.
The artistic dimensions of technology, which is both poison and remedy, can convey a new way of thinking and the potential for escape. The works presented in the exhibition invite us to leave gravity, in every sense of the word; through tangible alternatives in plastic art forms alongside sound and visual experiences.
Artists: Julien Clauss, Jorim Hubner, Michele Janata, Till Langschied, Manu Meier, Alessia Sanna, Silvi Simon, Angela Staffelbach, Lingjie Wang & Jingfang Hao, Michel Winterberg, Anne Zimmermann
Curator: Valérie Perrin
