Chapter 2 of the "Enfantillages" exhibition picks up where the exhibition at Palais Rohan left off, i.e. with Tomi Ungerer and the creation of the legendary Atelier de l'Illustration in Strasbourg in 1972. "Il n'y a pas de littérature pour enfants, il y a de la littérature" (François Ruy-Vidal) is a founding and provocative principle that guided the design of children's books from the 1960s/1970s onwards. The exhibition takes this principle as a guideline to examine how the boundaries between different literary fields are abolished from the moment children are taken seriously, confronted with difficult and complex themes and, above all, allowed to construct the meaning of the work themselves. This exhibition takes as its starting point the daring and emancipatory work of Tomi Ungerer, whose books had a major impact on his time.
