The American illustrator, designer and musician Richard McGuire (*1957) created a cult book with the graphic novel "Here", published in 2014, which shakes up the development of our planet in one small place and is currently being made into a film by director Robert Zemeckis starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. "Here" is an ode to life that is characterized by a simplified aesthetic and a minimalist formal language: Set in an anonymous living room, "Here" lets us travel through billions of years as if in a time machine - from the appearance of life on earth, past the moment in which the house and its living room stand, and into the future. The basis for the 300-page graphic novel was a short story that the artist published back in 1989 in the comic magazine "RAW" by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly. In 2016, "Hier" was awarded the Fauve d'or, the highest French award for graphic novels.
