Anyone who thinks of Pablo Picasso will quickly think of two of his most famous motifs: Guernica and the dove of peace. Both are icons of an art that campaigns against war and for peace. In view of the worldwide unrest and military conflicts, his works have once again taken on a sad presence.
Under the title "War and Peace", the Heidenheim Art Museum is showing some of Picasso's most important works in dialog with other works from the municipal collections, including highlights from the donation of Heidenheim-born Alfred Gunzenhauser.
The synopsis forms a cross-section of the art museum's collection as well as a multifaceted commentary on contemporary history.
