Château de Lichtenberg

A medieval castle that served over the centuries as a residence, fortress and garrison town and which is nowadays a cultural and tourist site with a breathtaking panoramic view over the northern Vosges. The exhibition “Sandstone Documents” displays impressive fossils and rocks from the Vosges sandstone. A trilingual heritage trail rounds off a tour of the castle and reveals its secrets. As you go back through the centuries, pausing at each information point, strolling through its many rooms that were rearranged to suit the needs of its various occupants, you will be enthralled by tales of its successive residents – countess, soldier or villagers seeking refuge there. You will find yourselves whisked away into times past – and finally all the castle's secrets will be revealed.
