The Mannheimer Kunstverein is one of the most traditional art associations in Germany. Founded in 1833, it moved into a building specially constructed by the city of Mannheim on Augustaanlage in 1966. The striking building was designed by the Darmstadt architect Theo Pabst. The building comprises an exhibition area of 450 square metres, a sculpture courtyard and the association's office.
The exhibition programme consists mainly of contemporary art from all disciplines and directions, plus exhibitions of established art and special events such as our Kultur_Lesen series, tours in sign language, lectures and guided tours.
With currently around 700 members, the Mannheimer Kunstverein is the oldest cultural mediation institution in Mannheim.
