UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte

Partner museums outside of the MPM area
The Völklinger Hütte World Cultural Heritage Site is the only fully preserved ironworks from the golden age of industrialization and the first monument from this era to be inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Today, the Völklingen Ironworks, with its many halls, open spaces and captivating tangle of piping systems, is a unique venue for international exhibitions, festivals and concerts. Nature adds to culture: the Paradiso, created from the former "hell" of the coking plant, fascinates by the reclamation of parts of the site by a variety of flora and fauna.
Reduced rate on presentation of the Museums-PASS-Musées at the ticket office, valid from 01.07.2024 to 31.12.2024.

The German Cinema. 1895 to the present day
15.10.2023-15.9.2024
The exhibition conceived by the Völklingen Hütte and the Deutsche Kinemathek Berlin provides the first comprehensive overview and immersive insight into the special qualities of German cinema from 1895 to the present day. At the same time, the high-calibre exhibition reflects cultural history and history tout court in an intensive parallel track to the history of the Völklingen Ironworks before, after, during and between the wars of the 20th century.
28.4.2024-10.11.2024
The Urban Art Biennale at the World Cultural Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte is one of the world's largest exhibitions of this anarchic art form beyond conventional white cube aesthetics. Every two years since 2011, the entire area of the Völklingen Ironworks has become a congenial dialogue partner for the art that has evolved from street art and graffiti. In 2024, the focus will be on participatory urban art projects in addition to political in situ works.
1.6.2024-1.9.2024
The MAN & MINING exhibition brings together artistic perspectives on the global extraction of raw materials in the digital age. The focus is on the human "resource" that makes industrial land grabbing above and below ground possible in the first place. Photographs, object art and spatial installations interact in an exhibition landscape specially developed for the Erzhalle and shed light on the consequences of massive extraction for people and nature.
An exhibition of the World Cultural Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte, realised in cooperation with the Museum der Arbeit Hamburg
