The Elztalmuseum Waldkirch is showing the current special exhibition on the occasion of this year's anniversary "225 years of organ building in Waldkirch" (duration 05.07.2024 to 09.03.2025).
Art meets music
The artist Otmar Alt (*1940) is the designer of the "Altobella Furiosa" concert organ, whose colorful pipes in the entrance area of the Elztal Museum play hits and classics by the Beatles, Abba and many more. The Altobella Furiosa was a joint project between the four Waldkirch organ building workshops and the artist Otmar Alt (built in 1999).
The former mayor of Waldkirch, Richard Leibinger, was one of the initiators of the project 25 years ago, in which not only the artist and the organ builders but above all the citizens of Waldkirch were encouraged to participate.
The former mayor and the Waldkirch art scene
Richard Leibinger, who wanted to study art history himself, is a passionate collector of works by the artist Otmar Alt. His private art collection includes, for example, a colorful bobby car designed by Otmar Alt as well as early works by Alt from the 1970s. Alongside other special objects, these can currently be seen in the special exhibition at the Elz Valley Museum. He has also been particularly committed to the Elztal Museum's art collection.
Richard Leibinger was born on October 5, 1949 in Durbach in the Ortenau district. After working as a scientific employee for the city of Nuremberg, he was elected mayor of Waldkirch in June 1983 and finally became mayor of the city in September 2009. Leibinger held this office until 2015.
Participation in the tour costs 6 euros per person.
Registration is not required.
