Themed tour
With the beginning of Roman settlement, many innovations found their way into agriculture and the use of plants in our region: for example, the invention of grafting technology made it possible to grow espalier fruit, and changes and innovations also took place in terms of nutrition - it is hard to imagine that 1800 years ago, olive oil was already being produced on a large scale in our region from southern Spain!

Last but not least, the origins of man-made landscaping, which later culminated in the artistic design of Baroque gardens, date back to Roman times.
At the same time, the themed tour through the museum's permanent exhibition will also focus on the exploitation of plant-based raw materials and their consequences for the environment.

From a mythological point of view in particular, various plants also played an important role, linked to individual myths and deities, as did the numerous fertility deities worshipped here.
