With the exhibition "hart & direkt", the Kunsthalle is dedicating itself to the drawings and graphics of the New Objectivity. New Objectivity graphic art, drawing and painting are united by a sobriety of representation, a cool gaze, social issues and a great hardness of depiction. The exhibition will show this as well as the close link between content and technique in New Objectivity graphics and drawings, the intensive preoccupation of New Objectivity artists with socio-political discourses and the use of technical reproduction techniques to create distance and structure. The survival of New Objectivity tendencies in the art of the Nazi era will be presented as well as the lines that extend into the non-objective art of the post-war period. The exhibition focuses on works from the museum's own collection, supplemented by high-ranking loans from German museums and a private collection.
