The extensive archive at the VALIE EXPORT Center in Linz is the starting point and source of the project WOMAN IN THE YEAR 2000. The exhibition approaches the VALIE EXPORT archive from a feminist perspective and unfolds a history of media art shaped by women artists. VALIE EXPORT has always pointed out that the cultural and social position of women and their bodies must be renegotiated in order to help shape a (media) future. The promise of the "electronic revolution" through digitality should always be linked to the creation of new and emancipated spaces.
