Do you know Théodore Deck ?
The Musée Théodore Deck & des Pays du Florival displays the largest public collection of earthenware by Théodore Deck. Born in 1823 in Guebwiller, the ceramisist founded an earthenware factory in Paris und became at the end of his life the director of the National Porcelain Factory of Sèvres. The pieces of earthenware, inspired by the Renaissance, East and Asia, enable a real trip in the fantasy world of the 19th century. The ceramisist collaborated with the best painters and sculptors of his time, such as the Swiss Albert Anker. Above all, Deck is famous for an inimitable turquoise blue, named "bleu Deck". In the museum, you can also discover a rich mineral collection and relics of the industrial past and wine-producing in the area of Guebwiller.
