Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 7:30 p.m.
Large refectory

Concert with Andrea Wiesli (piano), Daniel Schneller (moderation and introduction) and Anne-Catherine Krüger (on Sophie Schäppi and Hans Huber's "Hadlaub" project)

Excerpts from Hans Huber's "Hadlaub" op. 106 and "Ballads and Romances" op. 104

To mark the 10th anniversary of "Basel composes", the MKK has produced a CD recording of Hans Huber's "Hadlaub" suite and the "Ballades and Romances" for piano. The two works, written in quick succession in the 1890s, were recorded by Andrea Wiesli on the historic Blüthner grand piano from 1875 in the Great Refectory. On the occasion of the CD launch, the pianist will play excerpts from the work. Catherine Krüger will talk about the creation of the sheet music edition of Huber's "Hadlaub", which was illustrated by Winterthur artist Sophie Schäppi. "Hadlaub", inspired by Gottfried Keller's novella of the same name, was a joint project between the two.
