Shibati, the last of the old districts of China's largest city, Chongqing, is about to disappear and its inhabitants relocated. The filmmaker befriends Zhou Hong, the little prince of the district's lively alleyways, and Mrs. Xue Lian, the extraordinary godmother of migrant workers, who have always lived in Shibati. They're off to one of the thousands of anonymous towers in the distant suburbs.
