Jeanne Jourquin and Ariane Issartel propose a sensitive journey through the letters of Mme de Sévigné. From their vantage point as 21st-century women, they engage in dialogue with this 17th-century woman, inviting us to encounter a surprising, funny and witty personality. What we know most about Sévigné is her fervent attachment to her daughter, to whom she wrote unceasingly throughout the time they were separated. This singular maternal tenderness has often been glossed over, so much so that it borrows the traits and vocabulary of the most burning passion for love. But this famous tenderness also applies to other areas of life, and reflects a certain way of sensing the world, through the choice of sensitivity.
