Visual Diary, Lecture Performance by Fabio Cherstich

This event is available in
German
As part of the exhibition "PANTHEON" by Valentin Noujaïm, Kunsthalle Basel is showing the lecture performance "Visual Diary" by Fabio Cherstich.

In this performative narration, Cherstich combines his experiences as a theatre and opera director with his long-standing involvement with the queer art scene in New York in the 1980s. Using a personal archive of photos and sound recordings, he provides an insight into the work and fate of artists Patrick Angus, Larry Stanton and Darrell Ellis – lives that ended tragically too soon due to the AIDS crisis and fell into oblivion.

"Visual Diary" ties in with Valentin Noujaïm’s exhibition "PANTHEON", which is creating a hall of fame for forgotten places and their protagonists at Kunsthalle Basel. It commemorates those who were displaced by the prestigious "La Défense" project in Paris – including young people and their places of community.
