Elke Pfaffmann has been experimenting with a wide variety of materials and artistic techniques for many years. Whether as an illustrator, painter or glass artist, her works of art challenge our perception: paintings that evoke associations with mouth-blown glass or glass objects that appear to be painted. In her work, the boundaries between materials are literally fluid; Elke Pfaffmann unfolds a virtuoso interplay between light and shadow, transparency and opacity.
The artist is not only present in numerous exhibitions and collections, but also with many large-format glass and enamel works in public spaces. She has been honored for her work with the Palatinate Prize for Arts and Crafts (2014 and 2017) and the Art Prize of the Ike and Berthold Roland Foundation (2019), among others.
