Gabriele Domay, born in 1947, has been working as a freelance artist with her own studio since completing her training as a graphic designer in 1983, first in Freiburg, then for many years in Landau and now in Bad Bergzabern. Her artistic work focuses on paper in all its forms, as a base for painting and drawing, as a printmaking medium and as a sculptural material. She plays with the bipolar character of the material in a variety of ways - light, delicate and transparent on the one hand, malleable, opaque and surprisingly stable on the other. In addition, she experiments with transparent fabrics as pictorial grounds. By layering and superimposing, she lends her motifs a spatial character.
