Military Historical Museum Rastatt
The Castle of Rastatt has been home to the Military Historical Museum since 1956. The Military Historical Museum is considered to be one of the most influential of its kind in Europe. It was founded in 1934. Due to the close vicinity to France, the city of Rastatt was in the centre of dispute and wars in the past. The exhibition therefore focuses on the relationship of the city to the state, society and military, particularly in the South West of Germany.

The collection comprises information walls and wallpapers that focus on central aspects of the past, such as the lives of soldiers, technical developments, and memories of the industrialised war. More information is available about badges, weapons and military music. The permanent exhibition is complemented by exhibits from before the First World War. Highlights of the collection are the display of 6,000 tin figures, a large model of the federal fortress Rastatt in 1860 and a selection of artillery models from the years 1820 until 1860.
