Art and design

Hans Theo Baumann would have been 100 years old on October 27. To mark the occasion, various cultural institutions in Schopfheim, Weil am Rhein and Huningue are showing different focal points of his extensive oeuvre as part of an inter-communal exhibition project. It includes very different genres of design for serial products or unique pieces, applied art such as ceramics, tapestries, glass windows as well as free painting, graphics, drawing, relief and sculpture. They can all be assigned to one of the two areas of design and/or art. The Museum Schopfheim concentrates on design and shows the process of creating a form from sketch to production. The Kulturfabrik mainly presents artistic works in a sales exhibition. The Museum am Lindenplatz and the Textile Museum in Weil illustrate the diversity of design work: in addition to porcelain and glass, furniture, lighting and textiles are also on display. In Huningue, too, aspects of art and design can be found in the exhibited works. The exhibition is accompanied by a program of lectures, guided tours and an excursion.
