Where Switzerland likes to take a stand on domestic policy, it usually only gets involved behind the scenes when it comes to foreign policy. In spring 2025, the works in the group exhibition Model Neutrality will illustrate the extent to which the myth of neutrality influences the Swiss self-image and how its critical view scratches at our sense of security.
The exhibition uses art to show the extent to which neutrality is part of our lived reality and how the perception of neutral Switzerland changes over time. The show contributes to the formation of political opinion and encourages people to question the meanings and social conditions of state concepts. The Aargauer Kunsthaus creates space to reflect on the construction of a national mindset and to shed light on the opportunities and challenges of the neutrality model in a variety of ways.
